Why we do not install a bathroom in one day

A bathroom in one day, is that really possible? Read what problems can arise when you choose speed instead of a sustainable plan.

A bathroom in one day. It sounds like a dream. Demolition today, showering tomorrow. But when things go too fast, steps are sometimes skipped. And that can cause problems later. Think of loose tiles, moisture problems or choices you regret afterwards. A bathroom is not an impulse buy. It is a place you should be able to enjoy every day. That is why it is worth taking a moment to think about the promise of being “finished super fast”. Because what can be built in one day is usually not suitable for the long term.

What happens with a bathroom in one day?

With a bathroom in one day, something new is placed over the old as quickly as possible. The pipes stay where they are, the shower stays in the same place and so does the toilet. Nothing is moved or adjusted. Everything needs to fit exactly into the schedule. Old tiles? Often, a new layer is simply placed over them. There is hardly any demolition. So there is also little control.

Standard panels and prefab parts are often used, so everything clicks into place at once. This leaves no room for a creative layout, your special wishes or smart solutions. It is: fit, place, done. Not exactly the bathroom you dream of.

A bathroom deserves more than a standard solution

It is Monday morning, you are standing in the bathroom with sleepy eyes, and there it is again: the daily battle for the tap. You want to brush your teeth, your partner is already shaving, and meanwhile you almost trip over the shampoo sliding off the edge of the bath. A built in niche would have been useful. A double washbasin? That would make you very happy. Or maybe you simply want a little more space to turn around without someone’s elbow in your side. Maybe the room would work much better if the toilet was moved.

No home is the same. No family lives in exactly the same way. So why should every bathroom be built according to the same strict template?

The real difference is below the surface

Everything looks sleek. Beautiful tiles, shiny tap, fresh grout lines. But what you do not see? That is where it gets important. Under that new layer, there can still be all kinds of problems: damp spots, cracks in the wall, outdated pipes. You do not see it, so you often only notice it when it is too late. And that happens faster than you think. Sealant edges that come loose, a shower floor that does not drain properly, mould that returns because the ventilation was never fixed.

Sustainable renovation takes time

A good bathroom is not built between coffee and lunch. It takes time. Time to look at how the space is used. Time to measure, plan and make choices. Time to replace old pipes if needed. To check the surface. To respond to unexpected situations. Maybe pipes suddenly do need to be replaced after all.

Those extra days make sure you do not end up with leaks later. That the tiles stay neat, the sealant edges stay clean and the ventilation does its job. It saves you hassle, costs and frustration in the long term. A bathroom should last for years. It is a serious investment and it should be worth it.

Frequently Asked Questions
The time between demolition and completion depends greatly on the work that needs to be carried out. Because we focus on efficient planning, our renovations typically take between two and three weeks. (And yes, we also offer a weekend service!)
We start with a free consultation and an initial design. During this meeting, we discuss your wishes, style, budget, and the possibilities of the space. Based on that, we create a bathroom design that suits your needs, giving you a clear picture of the layout, look, and next steps right from the start.
Yes, you can combine different bathroom styles very well. For example, you might choose a modern base with natural materials such as wood look finishes, natural stone, or warm earth tones. This creates a bathroom that feels sleek and contemporary while still looking warm and inviting.
After your enquiry or consultation, we prepare a tailored quote for you. You will usually receive it within 48 hours. This gives you a clear overview of the options, costs, and next steps for your bathroom project without having to wait long.
Whether you should renovate before selling depends on the condition of the bathroom. If the bathroom is outdated, damaged, or unattractive, a renovation can help present the home better and give buyers more confidence. Sometimes a full renovation is not needed, and simply freshening up the bathroom with new sealant, lighting, taps, or accessories is enough.
